Dan + Shay Petco videoPetco today released a new “Celebrating Adoption” video featuring platinum selling country music artists Dan + Shay. The pair are experts on the positive impact of the pet and pet parent bond and credit their adopted pups, Chief and Joy, for making their lives on the road feel a little more like home. The latest video builds on Petco’s Think Adoption First philosophy, affirming the company’s position on increasing awareness of pet adoption efforts and inspiring pet parents to consider welcoming a pet in need into their home.

“I’ll never forget when my wife texted me a photo of a little white dog with spots, big ears and a nervous personality that she found at Petco’s adoption event,” said Dan Smyers. “Nothing brings me more happiness than to see Chief and Joy wagging their tails, jumping on us and giving us kisses after a performance,” added Shay Mooney.

“The love Dan + Shay have for their adopted pups demonstrates the life changing impact adoption has on both pets and pet parents,” said David Hallisey, Petco vice president, corporate communications. “The summer season brings an increased demand on animal welfare organizations, so we’re happy to share their story with the hope it will encourage potential pet parents to save a life and adopt their new family member at one of our monthly adoption events.”

Petco’s nationwide in-store adoption events make it easy and convenient for new and current pet parents to find the best pet for their specific needs and learn tips to acclimate their new family member into their home. To date, the Petco Foundation has invested more than $185 million to help more than 5.3 million pets find homes and promote and improve the welfare of companion animals.

That commitment continues this weekend as Petco will host a special Be a Lifesaver Adoption Weekend on July 1 and July 2 in Petco and Unleashed by Petco stores across the country. For more information about local adoption events in your area, visit www.petco.com/adoptions.
