Body Comp DEXA Body Composition Analysis Will Show Me Where I Stand
This morning I am going in for my first DEXA body composition scan of 2019. I’m really not looking forward to the results.
Although I should see slight improvements over my DEXA scan of December 2018, they won’t be what they could have or should have been. If I’m going to be honest with myself and with you, I’ve made a bunch of excuses over the last month. It was the holidays, I had my first ski trip in 4 years, I worked a lot, I was taking care of Ava Kalea most of the time, I injured both of my big toes, etc.
UPDATE: Joe Abs DEXA Body Comp San Diego Results January 3 2019
While it is true that I have suffered a good deal of pain from the damage done to both my big toes while tearing up the slopes of Mammoth Mountain for four straight days, and it has kept me from doing quite a bit of cardio work, it’s really no excuse for eating less than clean. I cannot use that as an excuse for eating half of Ava’s gingerbread house on New Year’s Eve – or for over indulging in too much (almost 2 pounds) Cardiff Crack (burgundy pepper infused tri tip from Seaside Market).
Overall, considering it was the holidays, my eating was much better than most – but not nearly as clean as I am capable of. I can and will do better over the next month. Because I didn’t do as well as I wanted, I already know that I have not achieved my goal of getting below 10% body fat by 2019. By looking at the pictures of my at the Del Mar Penguin Plunge on New Year’s Day, I’m not even sure I’ve made it under 15% ….
I hope the results from this morning’s DEXA body composition scan at Body Comp will show some kind of improvement, because I believe if I am not improving, I am sliding backward …
While this morning will be the first Joe Abs DEXA scan of 2019, it will be the 4th month in a row that I have tested as part of my personal Fit to Fat to Fit program. I’ve been calling it Fit2Fat2Fit Old Guy Version.
Back on October 2, 2018, I weighed in at a fat, whopping 205.1 lbs with 23.6% body fat. In plain french, I was a FAT F*CK! Probably even obese. Over the past 3 months, I have made continuous improvement to get back closer to my normally fit self – but I’m really not sure about any improvement over the last 30 days. Guess I will find out in a couple of hours. I’m really hoping that today’s DEXA scan will show me under 15% body fat, but I’m kind of having my doubts ….
Here are my DEXA scan results over the past 3 months:
As you can see, over the past few scans I have lost substantial weight and dropped over 5.5% in body fat. Unfortunately, I don’t believe that today’s DEXA body composition analysis will show similar improvement. I know that this morning when I stepped on the scale it showed me at 176 lbs, so I know that I did not lose a bunch of weight. Still the same, I am hoping that I have dropped some body fat and gained some muscle … Stay tuned – I will report back after my visit to see the good folks at Body Comp here in San Diego.
