Novo Nordisk, a world leader in diabetes care, has chosen World Impact Network (WIN) as their community outreach organization and together with WIN and Renewal Food Bank will form part of WIN’S Diabetes Awareness Campaign during the month of May 2011. WIN is a non-profit, 501c3 organization based in Bellevue, Washington.

Benefiting the most vulnerable in our community

On Wednesday April 13, 2011 fifty Novo Nordisk employees and WIN staff got  together at the SeaTac Airport Marriott to fill 400 bags with ‘healthy choice’ foods and educational materials to be handed out to food bank clients during WIN’S  “Diabetes Awareness Month” in May 2011.

WIN together with its partners will make free testing available to all clients.  Clients found to be at risk will be referred to local clinics providing services for vulnerable population groups.

“Diabetes Awareness Month is another one of those opportunities we have to provide valuable health education for our food bank clientele.   It is important that relevant health information is made available to our ‘most vulnerable’ population groups in terms of factors contributing to a healthy lifestyle,” said Executive Director Gabriella Van Breda.
