Washington Wineries Join Together to Raise $30,000 for United Way of Snohomish County Through a Wine Tasting Fundraiser
Hundreds of winemakers from around Washington state convened last month at the annual Taste Washington Seattle event to sample their wine to crowds of oenophiles. While typical conversations ensued between winemakers and consumers about the industry, a pressing question was being asked between the winemakers themselves: How can the Washington Wine industry ban together to help our neighbors in Oso who have suffered great losses in the devastating mudslide?
In conjunction with chef Tom Douglas, winemaker Charles Smith (of K Vintners, Charles Smith Wines and Charles & Charles) answered that question and rallied fellow top winemakers from around the state for “Oso Needs Cash”, a wine tasting fundraiser. The event will take place at the Palace Ballroom in downtown Seattle with all proceeds going directly to United Way of Snohomish County, chosen because of their commitment to give 100% of the funds directly to affected families in the area.
The event, in partnership with Ethan Stowell Restaurants, and the Huxley Wallace Collective, will give attendees the opportunity to sip wine from 18 different wineries as well as bid on items in a silent auction. Bruce Pavitt, founder of Sub Pop Records, will also be on hand spinning records.
