Offering over 65 wines by the glass on its exclusively Washington wine list, and embracing a service philosophy centered on sharing high quality Washington wines, Cypress Lounge & Wine Bar at The Westin Bellevue earned the Grand Award at the 2013 Washington State Wine Awards. The annual awards, driven by the Washington State Wine Commission, recognize industry leaders that exhibit strong support of Washington wines and high professional standards in wine service.

Winners were selected from more than 100 nominations by a committee made up of wine industry representatives evaluating restaurants, individuals, and organizations on a variety of criteria including wine list, service and staffing, promotions and overall wine philosophy.
“These exemplary businesses and individuals help us spread the word that Washington State has a reputation for premium wines with superior quality across a range of varietals,” said Commission President Steve Warner. The Washington State Wine Grand Award has been awarded to an elite group of top tier Western Washington restaurants that designate menu and wine list space for Washington wines, and provide continual promotion, sales, and education of Washington wines.
“Cypress Lounge & Wine Bar is a Grand Award winner with its all-Washington wine list and more than 65 wines by the glass,” Warner said. “Moreover, the restaurant has shown a strong support of the Washington State wine industry through activities that introduce both guests and staff to new wines and winemakers, as well as supporting the ‘Raise a Glass’ scholarship program to help develop future winemakers in our state.” The Cypress Lounge & Wine Bar wine program also includes actively seeking out small family winemakers, offering intimate winemaker dinners, exclusive tastings, and winery visits resulting in a list that is curated by the entire staff. This is the second Washington Wine Award for Cypress, which received an Award of Distinction in 2012.
