As of April 2, 2012, the Seattle Passport Agency no longer requires travel plans in order to make an appointment and apply in person at the Agency. Previously, proof of urgent departure within two weeks was required in order to make an appointment. The agency offers five-day service for first time passport applicants, passport renewals, data changes, additional pages, and applications for the passport card. Life and death emergencies may be handled in less than five days providing the applicant shows proof of the emergency. All customers applying in person at the Agency must have an appointment and pay the required expedite fee of $60.
The Agency does not accept routine passport applications, which are currently processed in about four weeks. For routine service, customers can visit a local passport acceptance facility, such as a post office or clerk of court.
