King 5 TV SeattleThe numbers are in for the crucial November ratings period and once again viewers have chosen KING 5 as their favorite local television station in Western Washington.

“Our News and Programming Departments have a lot to be proud of this season,” said Ray Heacox, President and General Manger of KING 5.  “Their coverage of the big stories continues to serve our community in a meaningful way, tapping into both the emotional and economic impact to our region.  When you include the feature reporting from News, Evening Magazine and New Day Northwest, we saw the very best of what the Northwest has to offer from KING 5 in November.”

KING 5 delivers great stories told by great journalists:

Starting with the KING 5’s Morning News Team’s inspirational coverage of our Armed Forces during Military Week; they share the heartwarming story of a Medal of Honor Recipient, illustrated the pressures of deployment on family life and addressed the growing occurrence of PTSD.

KING 5’s Evening and Late Newscasts brought Western Washington together.  Speaking to the mother of Kenneth Bae, offering hope to residents in the San Juan Islands in the midst of a crippling power outage, and mourning with the community when a Halloween car crash took two young lives.

KING 5 is the go-to resource when big stories happen:

“There is no other journalistic entity that comes close to reporting on developments at Boeing as well as KING 5,” said Mark Ginther, KING 5 Executive News Director.  “The depth of knowledge from our Senior Aviation Reporter, Glenn Farley combined with the Investigative chops of Linda Byron put the potentially market-changing 777X story into perspective.  It’s a story vital to the economic impact of the region and viewers know KING 5 is the place to go for information.”

KING 5’s non-news programming spotlights the best our region has to offer:

Star-studded New Day Northwest hosted the likes of Sally Field and Vince Neil while enjoying its largest monthly viewing audience since August of 2011.  New Day’s wildly popular “Gotta Have It” series returned in November filling the seats of their live studio audience to capacity.

Evening Magazine took its viewers to Peru for an inside look at the makings of Seattle Art Museum’s “Peru: Kingdoms of the Sun and the Moon;”and on a tour much closer to home, along scenic highway 101 highlighting beautiful places to visit, and wonderful characters along the way.  We revealed winners of The Best of Western Washington, and celebrated many other stories that make us proud to call the Northwest home.
