Edelman has announced that Josh Chaitin joined the public relations agency as a Senior Vice President on the Corporate and Public Affairs team in Seattle, Wash., effective immediately. With a background in built environment, retail, professional services and the public sector, Chaitin will reinforce the agency’s overall plan to bolster Edelman’s Corporate and Public Affairs team and service offerings across Seattle and the agency’s West coast markets.
“We are delighted to welcome Josh to Edelman Seattle’s Corporate and Public Affairs team as we continue to expand our expertise and grow through the acquisition of top talent in the region,” said Will Ludlum, general manager, Edelman Seattle. “From top to bottom across practice areas and disciplines we deliver against our primary objective to provide exceptional service to our clients and Josh bolsters our expertise in business and social purpose.”
Chaitin started his career in the public sector, helping government programs develop tools for businesses to reduce their environmental footprints. Since moving in to the PR field, his focus has been helping clients in the built environment, retail, professional services and the public sector promote their purpose-driven initiatives to create behavior change resulting in social and environmental benefits.
He has also helped clients find their voice in purpose-driven work, and looks forward to bringing these experiences to his role at Edelman.
- · Work with developers on campaigns to create transit-oriented, dense and diverse urban communities.
- · Help government programs create education campaigns that reduce environmental impacts through energy conservation and pollution prevention while helping industry associations educate stakeholders on the environmental benefits of sustainably harvested wood.
- · Work with companies, like REI, to engage underserved populations in outdoor recreation.
Chaitin has won awards for his work in the field of sustainable development (for example, a Silver Anvil from PRSA for a campaign that promoted the first LEED certified condominium tower in Seattle). However, he is most proud of his efforts to help his clients win awards and recognition for their work. Most recently, Chaitin helped Vulcan Real Estate win the NAIOP Developer of the Year award and the ULI Award for Global Excellence for their work in revitalizing Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood.
“I think I’ve helped to raise awareness of the business and social benefits of sustainability across various industries. My hope is to continue to raise awareness as there are numerous environmental and social issues that require attention and action,” said Chaitin. “The Business and Social Purpose practice at Edelman has many of the smartest, most dedicated professionals working to help our clients create meaningful and lasting change locally and globally. It’s a great honor to be a part of the Edelman team.”
