Kirkland Summerfest has announced the Summerfest music lineup as well as an overview of the not-to-be-missed activities taking place during Kirkland’s largest festival of music, art, food, and culture, taking place August 9, 10, and 11, in downtown Kirkland. Admission to Kirkland Summerfest is free.
Because of the generosity of our sponsors and volunteers, Summerfest is able to provide the community with a weekend festival transforming downtown Kirkland and Marina Park into a lively arts destination with music (featuring more than 50 performances), dancing, street performances, family entertainment, amazing art, and an incredible selection of food, with free general admission to the festival.
Kirkland Summerfest at a glance:
Friday, August 9
– Summerfest kicks off 2013 bigger than ever with an opening night special theatrical presentation of The Tempest in the ever-popular Shakespeare in the Park, 7pm, Marina Park.
Saturday, August 10
– Live music on four stages, Artists in Action, food trucks, robotics demonstrations, TechZone, Moss Bay Cardboard Boat Regatta, bouncy toys, Touch-A-Truck, Young Artists Exhibition, beer and wine gardens. Festival opens at 11am.
Sunday, August 11
– Live music programming presented by Northwest Folklife, Live music on four stages, Artists in Action, Rotary Duck Dash, Bot Battles, TechZone, bouncy toys, Touch-A-Truck, Young Artists Exhibition, beer and wine gardens. Festival opens at 11am.

Artists in Action
Enjoy an incredible array of art at Kirkland Summerfest where Artists in Action include Shakespeare in the Park on Friday evening.Saturday and Sunday include: Summerfest Raku for all—glaze your own Summerfest souvenir; Kirkland Summerfest’s Fish Frolic along Lake Washington; Plein Aire Artists; large scale sculpture; Portrait Artists, Photographers, and fiber art; Opera Belles; and the Young Artist Exhibition, showing the talent and expression of artists 18 and younger.
Play More Kids Area
All are invited to board the Summerfest Express, a train that will run along Lake Street. Jump into summer fun in the Summerfest Bouncy House – then flip it sky-high on the Trampoline Thing. Kids can challenge themselves on the Summerfest Kids Course, or dive into more fun on the Giant Slide and whirl-it-up on the Cyclone Swing. There’s more activity with Radio Disney, Linda Severt’s Juggletunes, and character visits. Kids can build sand-castles on the Cadman sand pile and cruise the KCLS Bookmobile. Touch-A-Truck
Get up close and see just what all those dials, gadgets and hoses are for on a fire truck, or check out in the ins-and-outs of a police cruiser. Kids of all ages will be able to check out what makes big rigs, fire trucks, busses and work-horse vehicles go. Saturday andSunday in the Play more Kids area.
TechZone
Be one of the first to get your hands on some hot student developed video games and technology. Discover how game development works and try your hand at educational exhibits. Play games and foray into fine art on easels provided for bringing drawings to life. Sponsored by DigiPen Institute of Technology. The Tech Zone will be open Saturday and Sunday.

Get behind the scenes and be a part of this great community event. The Kirkland Summerfest planning committee is entirely volunteer and Kirkland Summerfest relies on event volunteers to make the event happen. There are many opportunities for volunteers to have fun and help out. Most shifts are just 3 hours long, so volunteers will have plenty of time to enjoy this fantastic event!
