Family-owned and operated Pfaff’s Christmas Tree Farm in Auburn marks its 32th anniversary this season with a loyal customer base and a wide selection of U-cut and pre-cut trees.
“Year after year, folks return here for their tree,” said Erik Pfaff, who co-manages the tree farm with his sister Britt. “It’s become a family tradition. Now their children are coming here for trees for their own young families.”
Customers can grab a map, borrow a saw and go into the fields to cut their own, or they can purchase a pre-cut tree. “Our customers range from people buying smaller trees for an apartment to those getting tall trees for community clubs and homes with cathedral ceilings,” said Pfaff.
Pfaff’s Christmas Tree Farm has all the favorites such as Douglas Fir and Noble Fir, plus Shasta, Frasier, Canaan, and Concolor or White Fir. In addition, are the hard to find Turkish Fir, Blue Spruce, and Nordmann Fir. All are reasonably priced, often less expensive than those found on Christmas tree lots in the city
“And fresher,” said Pfaff. “You can’t get fresher than cutting it yourself. Many of the pre-cut trees on corner lots in the city were cut in October. All our pre-cut trees are harvested within a few days of being on display.”
What better family outing this time of year than to search the fields of Pfaff’s Christmas Tree Farm for the perfect tree and cut it yourself? Afterwards, warm up in the store with cups of hot cocoa or spiced cider and delicious and warm fresh-out-of-the-oven chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin spice cookies.
You will also find hand-crafted Christmas ornaments, wreaths, and swags, plus garland, mistletoe and other holiday greens for decorating the door, mantle and home. Saws for cutting your tree are loaned free of charge and baling is provided for a modest fee.
Every weekend from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. you will find Santa warming his toes before a wood-burning stove in country-style Santa’s Holiday Gift Shop across the parking lot from the main store and a little down Candy Cane Lane. Have the children bring their Christmas wish lists and parents, their cameras, for that annual holiday photo with Santa. Of course, Santa will have a complimentary candy cane for every child and a jolly “ho ho ho” for everyone.
Pfaff’s Christmas Tree Farm will be open the day after Thanksgiving until Christmas Eve. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on weekends.
