Lake Washington Technical College (LWTC) and Data I/O Corporation have entered into a training partnership made possible through a grant provided by the State of Washington. The partnership calls for LWTC to provide five professional development and training classes to Data I/O employees. The work will be funded by a Job Skills Program grant.
“We are delighted to support Data I/O’s employees in their pursuit of learning and support the growth and competitiveness of this local company,” said Joy Howland, LWTC’s Associate Dean of Resource Development/Institutional Effectiveness. “This public-private partnership supports the development of coursework that will be utilized for the benefit of both our students and Data I/O employees.”
The five classes LWTC will offer Data I/O employees are Corporate Writing Essentials, Writing White Papers for Engineers, Executive Business Writing, Writing Sales Proposals, and Advanced Presentation Techniques. Data I/O used an employee survey to identify key professional development and training needs and then collaborated with LWTC to develop the coursework and secure the funding.
“We are striving to build an open culture, based on continuous learning organization ideals, and are thankful to have strategic partners and funding through the State of Washington to develop our employees in this challenging economy,” said Ruth Alstadt, Human Resources Manager at Data I/O. “This training ensures that Data I/O remains an innovative and world-class manufacturer in Washington State.”
